where want your education to lead, while you're still in school, you might find the best route... leads somewhere you weren't even looking. let's get to work. >>> thousands of people in new jersey had to flee safety today as flooding overwhelmed their towns. rescue teams trying to do house to house helping those who could not leave on their own. it has also been a harrowing 24 hours for hundreds of sick patients who had to be evacuated from the nyu medical center during super storm sandy. the hospital which is just a block from the east river which is basically across town in that direction and a little bit uptown in the 30s, they had a backup generator. the backup generator failed. patients had to be, get this, carried down multiple flights of stairs with flashlights giving the only illumination. can you imagine trying to do that? for some of the tineiest patients, the infants on ventilators, nurses had to manually pump air into the little babies' chests. patients were taken to five different hospitals, including mt. sinai. the most critically ill obviously were moved first. a dramatic
that here, governor. this governor was the education governor that all of us looked at with admiration. and he can describe this better than i can but one thing he did is grade schools to determine which ones are succeeding and which ones weren't and if a school is not succeeding why the kids in the school given the ability to go to another school. could be a charter school or another public school so kids got choice in part based upon the success of the schools. and i intend to do the same thing, helping all the states across the country, one, make sure that schools are graded so parents tell which ones are succeeding and which aren't. federal dollar that is we give to states and localities, two big buckets. one is called title i and then iaed money. the dollars will be funneled to students so if a child wants to go to a different school or parents do, they have the capacity to do that. >> the governor speaking to a rousing rally in tampa, florida, at the international airport there. and to be sure, the campaign is back on track for the governor. he's on to the stump speech specifical

"one sees climate change as an urgent problem that threatens our planet. one does not. i want our president to place scientific evidence and risk management above electoral politics." this endorsement criticized mitt romney's leadership on the other hand saying, "in the past mr. romney has also taken sensible positions, but he has reversed course on all of them and is even running against the health care model he signed into law in massachusetts." mike bloomberg criticizes mr. romney specifically for flip-flopping and dropping his previous positions on climate change then says, "this issue is too important. we need determined leadership at the national level." in other words, i don't think we're going to get determined leadership from mitt romney. i think he has taken occasionally attractive positions, but leadership, no. speak
-working, creative, risk-taking, business-starting, education-seeking people. it's who we are. i have, throughout my life, seen some of the great qualities in the human spirit in the american people i've come to know. there's some stories i love to tell that describe something about the american heart. i was a leader in the boy scouts of america some years ago. and i was at a court of honor. a court of honor is where we give out eagle scout awards and other awards. i was at a table in the gymnasium next to the american flag. the person who was speaking at the microphone was the scout master from monument, colorado. and he said their scout troop wanted to have a special flag. they bought an american flag, gold tassels around it. they sent it off to be flown above the capitol. when it came home, they said, i wonder if it can go on the space shuttle. they contacted nasa. nasa agreed. he said, you can't imagine the pride of our boys, you know, watching from their classrooms, seeing the space shuttle "challenger" launch on the tv screen. then they saw it explode on the tv. he said he called nasa a couple
